We took over the holiday village “Les Sentiers du Causse” located in the Lot in 2015 after 2 years of research and visits. This vacation village had been closed for about 2 years, and corresponded totally to our expectations, thanks to its location close to major tourist sites (Saint Cirq Lapopie, Rocamadour, Gouffre de Padirac), to its human size: 15 house rentals in a green setting in the Causses and its possibility of development (creation of services and animations: bar, restaurant, grocery store, …). This takeover was not without difficulties: leaving his region and his family, his work, his house (sale/move), the itinerant relocation during the period of the project, the banking and administrative steps and the interminable wait for the answers for the financing. Until the day when the “positive” answer arrived, without really believing in it, we had to organize everything and not waste a single moment because time was running out and the season had started! We arrived in July in the Lot for an opening on August 1st and since then we are the happiest because “happiness is first of all to be at one’s place”.
The animation, the human contact, the respect of the environment, our availability and the warm welcome are essential values in our village of lodgings. We try as much as possible to put forward the meeting and the exchanges between our holiday makers and the inhabitants of the Lot (visit farms, local producers, votive festivals…). On arrival, we invite the guests to come and share a glass of friendship and we offer them all the activities (cultural, sports, gastronomic visits…), this allows them to exchange and get to know each other and this moment is very important for the friendly welcome we want to put forward. Our most beautiful satisfactions are the smiles, the thanks, and to see our customers coming back.
During our research visits at the beginning of our project, we knew and met some members of the Association, who immediately made us want to join the team. The strength of the network of self-catering villages lies in a few words: communication, different experiences and stories, cohesion and organization of the structure. This network provides us with support: availability of contacts, dissemination of communication and mutual aid.
Our village of gites has similar houses, and one evening after a barbecue between friends, installed in different houses, one of the holidaymakers leaves in the house (which thought it was his) and lay down in the bed to spend a good night; except that he was in the house of his neighbors… After having contacted us, we intervened so that everyone finds his bed… And everyone is still laughing…
