Arrived in 2006, we took over existing gites. They were run by German bikers, so no advertising was done in France. Finally, we started the business as if we had created it. We encountered a lot of difficulties at the beginning, the buildings being old, there was work to be done quite quickly, and we were discovering the functioning of this business, new for us. We were afraid to impose ourselves in our structure. I must say that it took us several years to feel at home and to master the reception of the holidaymakers in our accommodations. In spite of the ordeals, we have had many satisfactions, among which the regular return of our customers.
The spirit of our village of lodgings is the family. The guests feel at home. There is no obligation to participate in activities. During the very high season, we offer pétanque competitions, theme evenings (barbecue, paella) and outings (Pont du Gard, Féérie des Eaux). One point on which we put the accent: the breakfast. It allows everyone to meet, discuss, share and make friends, around our homemade cakes very much appreciated by all. Some people consider us as part of their family !
We joined the network so as not to remain isolated and alone, whereas the association of the Villages de Gîtes offers us the opportunity to share and discuss problems. In the end, we realize that everyone has the same worries, the same joys and we feel reassured. There is a strong generosity in this association, it is a real human adventure to be part of the Villages de Gîtes.
Les Gîtes du pêcheur à Erquy in Brittany: beautiful landscapes and very nice gîtes.
Last year, 2 families of regulars (who have become friends), who stay 2 weeks, wanted to have an aperitif with us from time to time. No problem. And it worked out: every evening we ate together. Everyone brings something and we share real moments of conviviality. The newcomers joined us. And at the time of the departure, here is what they said to us: next year, we start from the 1st day!
